But of course there was more to the story
Cause life can be a son of a gun
She had left almost all her problems
and she was on the run
so I said if she was in a bind
I could help even though I was flyin blind
Cause I felt that this here was instant chemistry
and at that point I did not care what happened to me

Life is full of twists and turns
and you never know where they'll lead
If you ride on the dark trail you
might not see the light through the trees
and I said I can see your scared
but you found a friend in me
so she stared and slowly realized that
I could be all she'd need

But of course there was more to the story
Cause life can be a son of a gun
She left me after having second thoughts
and I was holding all but none
of the memories I had already made
of a future of laying there in the shade
of the meadow where she was
